Did your anxiety just spike when you read the words, “holiday season?” Do you feel a pit of dread, thinking about thanksgiving dinner with your family or your in-laws? Does the upcoming holiday season - whatever you celebrate (or don't) - bring challenging emotions, stir up old family drama, or activate your past trauma? Is there a particular person in your extended family that you can't help but get in that unresolvable political dispute with, or just triggers the crap out of you?
Yeah. You're definitely not alone there.
Holidays are branded as this time to celebrate and feel the joy of being together, and the messaging we often get is that there is no room for any emotion other than that holiday cheer.
But the fact is, a lot of people's family of origin stuff comes up with the heat of a thousand hearth fires, and it's sometimes too loud to drown out with a chorus of fa-la-la-las.
Come be in good company as we learn how to utilize our bodies and nervous systems to support us through the emotional ups and downs, so we can authentically find our way to the happy-jolly-merry, or at the very least, a little more peace and solace.
You'll learn:
Why somatics is the answer for your triggers and hard feelings.
What happens specifically, uniquely inside of you when you start to get upset.
How to stop a major upset in its tracks, and deescalate yourself in any heated situation.
How to preemptively support and settle yourself to prevent emotional exchanges from getting out of hand.
Ways to better self-manage your hard feelings and emotions so you can have more control over your experience.
How to utilize your strengths to foster your sense of safety, peace, and calm.
Most of all, remember your sense of belonging as we spend time together discovering new embodied pathways for connection and merriment.

It’s important to acknowledge that this is only one part of the pain story that surrounds the Holiday Season. Another part of the pain story is the lack of relatives or family, either through loss, isolation or estrangement. While we honor the struggle that creates, this event will be more focused on the anxiety and stress that comes from navigating connection with our current familial relations.
